Follow the river — then see it from the water

Brisbane's riverfront walks are one of its greatest strengths. A CityCat ferry ride provides another perspective on the bridges, apartments, parks and bends that define the city. Instead of treating transport as something to get through, the journey becomes part of the sightseeing.

Around dusk, the Story Bridge and Howard Smith Wharves are particularly atmospheric. Under the bridge, former wharf buildings now sit among places to eat, drink and meet friends. It is lively and scenic, although waterfront dining can be more expensive than exploring on foot.
